Hey Guys,

So I haven't had a lot of hands on time with my truck lately due to work requirements, but I've been drooling over the thought of wiring up my 3 Rigid Industries SR lights I have on my Gobi to 1 switch in the cabin. There are a few things that are holding me back, mostly the fact that I'm not particularly savvy with electrical work. I can manage wiring up simple circuits, but this is getting a little advanced for me.

The other thing holding me back, for those that have not had a chance to see these lights in person, they use a proprietary plug for the wiring harness, and a 15amp relay.

The whole reason I want to use 1 switch, 1 circuit for the 3 lights is A: I don't want to flip 3 swtiches when I'm going to use all the lights or none at all. B: The wire for the wiring harness is thick 12g wire and trying to find a way for that to make it's way into the cabin while maintaining some form of weather seal will be difficult.


I'll email my family back in the states to try and get photos of everything to clear up any questions, but for now my main question is...How would you wire up 3 lights, each with a 15amp relay, to use 1 switch? I'm trying to keep everything as clean as possible.

The switch shouldn't have any problem triggering multiple relays. Just make sure they switch can handle the draw that the relays need (usually very very minimal). This is the same way a lot of factory headlight systems are done with the right and left lights isolated from each other via their own relays but all triggered off of one switch.

The point of the relay and switch is so u don't have to run heavy high current wiring in n out. As stated above, the switch doesnt care how many relays or whatever are connected to it. Just don't exceede it's current rating and fuse everything for safety.

BTW, you don't drive around with that jack mounted there, do you??

Ok, so wire the switch to the relays in parallel, then to each individual light? Do you think it'd be possible to wire the 3 lights to a fuse box then to the Relay and switch? Like the wiring diagram I've attached?


Yes I do, I'm moving it after I get my tire carrier, but for now it's been sturdy, and allows me to see a very clear front of my vehicle. I have no worries about it coming loose and injuring anyone. I was worried about that originally as well.

put the fuse box on the battery side, as close to the battery as you can.
this reduces the amount of LIVE wire you have, if/when you have a short, and the fuse pops.
