3rd gen lift questions
After looking at way too many build threads here, I have decided to lift my 3rd gen. I've been shopping Toytec's web site and this is what I've put together so far for a 3" lift:
Front Bilstein 5100 shocks
Front OME 881 coils with top plate spacers
Rear NGTR-4R shocks (same shocks from their ultimate lift kit)
Rear OME 890 coils
Front Differential Drop Kit
Before I spend the money, I'm hoping you guys can tell me if this package will work in the real world. It's my daily driver so most of it life will be spent on the road, with some light off roading. Is there anything you'd do different and is there is any thing else I need to order to complete the project.

No need for the top plate spacers. And don't go with OME shocks, look for Bilsteins or even something cheaper. The OME shocks ride very rough.

I thought I need the spacers to give me the 3" inches.
Any suggestions on the rear shocks. I was going with the ones I listed to save a few bucks. The budget is tight and they are $100 cheaper than the Bilsteins.

For the front I would go with:
OME 883 Coils
and
OME 90004 Nitrocharger Shock
The nitrocharger shocks do ride ride though. And they are pretty stiff.

883's will give you damn near 3" on their own. But the 5100 is a height adjustable shock. So set them on the 2nd perch and you're good to go. But honestly, with 890's in the back, you could probably even run the Bilsteins on the lowest perch and be okay.
For rear shocks, if you're on a budget, look into some of the regular name shocks. Monroes, rancho, etc. Stay away from the OME's you'll eventually change them out and wind up spending more. You could probably even get the plain old Bilstein HD's (yellow and blue ones) as opposed to the rear 5125's.

Won't the 883 be too stiff, I don't ever plan on running an aftermarket bumper or winch. That's kind of why I was looking at the 881.
I'm not trying to argue with you guys, I just have a limited budget and I can't afford to do it twice. And I appreciate all the advice you guys can give me.

I went with the Toytec Ultimate lift and have the Pro Comp shocks. Mine is a DD as well and will eventually see some easy/medium trails in the future.
I set the front end at about 2.5 lift in the front and with the 890's in the rear, for me, it has the right amount of rake.
The ride feels great for me. I typically have the back empty except for spare tire and eventually add a sub enclosure.
I went with the adjustable up front as I plan to add a bumper in the future and I had the cash to use at the time.

i paid under a $80 each for my 5125s in the rear... just keep looking around their are discount places online

What's your budget? I've had both the 881's and 882's up front and now the Toytec ultimate. Once you add in top plates you've only got like a $200 difference to the full coil over in the ultimate.
I wanted as much lift as possible so I went with taller springs. If I were you, I'd do the ultimate up front with 7.5 wraps out back with factory Toyota land cruiser shocks in the back. Adjustable lift up front and awesome plush ride out back.

Everyone keeps bashing the OME comfort shocks, but I like mine. I have them paired with the LC coils, and I think they balance well. The springs have a little more bounce to them, and the shocks keep them stable.
I have not used the Billies in the rear though, so maybe I would like them more.

Even their comfort shocks ride rougher than others. With the LC coils its probably not bad. But OME shocks pair with OME springs is pretty rough

I'll agree with that. With the 906s and OMEs it was a little stiffer. I felt the bumps in the road.
But I like it now...so until these go out, I'll keep em.

Thanks for the help in trying to save me some money, but if I'm replacing parts I would rather replace with new.

I've got roughly $700 to spend.
Can anyone give me a real world comparison of the Tundra TRD springs and the 881's?
Also, if there is anything else I might need to get for the build.

You can do the ful OME kit for $699 I believe. 881's with a 5mm trim packer up front with some 890's and 10mm trim packer in the rear was the first set up I had. Sat pretty darn good,if you ask me. Rough rougher than what I have now though.
