So I just bought this 97 4Runner for mostly winter duty (my daily driver has 2-wheels). It was in need of new tires, so I picked up this wheel/tire combo off craigslist from a 2011 4Runner. They are 17x7 with 265/70 tires. I really like the look, but the additional unsprung weight is pretty noticeable over bumps.
It seems to be all original, 4wd automatic, without rear locking diff. The vehicle originally had the 15" wheels, which I understand means it had smaller front brakes and suspension components. I'm not sure how old the suspension components are at this point, but at least the rear shocks have been replaced with a "Reflex" brand shock. The rear does not seem to sag like some other T4R's that I have seen. The odometer is 260K.
My question is: What is my best course of action for smoothing out the bumps, assuming I want to keep this wheel/tire combo?
Thanks, first time poster here.
