Ryan's build thread

History
My 4runner was bought new in 1999 by my grandfather in upstate New York, who babied it. Over 100,000 miles later it was sold to my father for $3,500, who then gave it to me as my first car. The 1999 SR5 4runner came with beige leather, a tow package, the 3.4L V6 engine, automatic transmission, and 2wd.

Exterior
Black pearl emblems/grille/rims
Yakima Load warrior roof rack
TRD emblem
TRD stickers
Other Miscellaneous decals
Westin nerf boards
Bug deflector
Rain guards

Interior
Kenwood headunit
Weathertech cargo liner
Rubber mats, front and rear

Electrical
Clear corners and signal lights
PIAA 510s

Wheels
Stock rims plasti-coated black
265 BFG All-terrains

Suspension
Pro Comp ES9000 shocks
Daystar 2.5" lift kit

Took off the bull bar to sell it and buy a new one, and replaced the lights with the wind deflector. Daystar 2.5" lift kit with pro comp ES9000 shocks. TRD stickers and emblem. Removed running boards and put on Westin nerf boards.

Added a custom built box in the cargo area.

A while ago I bolted a KC light bar into my stock bumper. It seemed to be the best option at the time because I didn't have the money for a new bumper, and I wanted to utilize my PIAA lights.
I have some big plans for the vehicle, but I'm not sure what would be best to do first. Currently I'm running a Daystar 2.5" spacer kit, but I'd really like to switch to OME coils. Not sure about the shocks that I've got right now, though. They're working out well, but I don't know if they'd fit the 3" lift that new coils would give.
Might head to Home Depot tomorrow and buy some more wood and carpet to build a more professional looking box for the back.

Clean looking rig man! At least from the year old photos...

I would get new shocks if you are putting lift coils in, especially in the rear since it's not as limited for down travel as the front is (since the front will bind with the CV so an extended shock doesn't help with travel). Though if you don't wheel it than you would probably be fine with stock shocks, I would still upgrade though out of personal preference.

I'm currently running Pro Comp ES9000 series shocks with the 2.5" spacer kit. I haven't heard good things about Pro Comp (I did this lift quite a while ago) so I was thinking about running OME shocks. Still, I haven't had any problems with my current shocks so I don't think that I'll switch them out for a while. Most importantly, though, is that I'm a 2WD... so I haven't done any off-roading in it.

Decided against a custom-built storage box (I don't think they are cost-effective, and usually look cheap) and bought one of these from Walmart for $25.
