Fightman's oily mess!
Sorry for the repost... but thought I'd post this, so that those who don't necessarily read my build thread... can get a glimpse of my rust proofing process....
So, I've been on here for a few years now... and have always advocated the use of recycled Motor oil for rust proofing my vehicles.
Today, my dad and I set up the old plastic tarp, rolled a total of 4 trucks on it, and sprayed the undercarriages and inner body panels with the black/brown stuff.
Now, before any of you chime in saying that it's messy, gross, and ask "Why would you do this??" lol.... Living in North Eastern Ontario Canada, the use of Road Salt plays havoc on sheet metal and undercarriage components. I've been doing this since 1998, and have NEVER had any issues with "acidic oil, eating my rubber bushings" or any other issues at all, other than having a dirty truck for a few weeks.
Now, on to the pics!
Here's the truck rolled up on the tarp:
Here's a shot of one of the many holes drilled in the sheet metal in order to access inner portions of doors, rocker panels and such:
(Note: the holes are later plugged with rubber caps)
Here's some shots of the chasis and other components sprayed:
Seepage.... lol!
The spray gun I use:
All done!
This process involves removing the corner lenses on the front, and spraying inside the fenders.... it's messy, but my 98 4Runner would NOT be in as good of shape if I did not do this every year..... ;)

Messy or not, if it works, it works. And your truck always looks great. This process makes me doubly glad I live in a dry, stable climate year round and don't have to worry about snow.
BTW, the Tacoma looks great as well man!

Nice truck. It'll make your under body nice and clean too. My grandpa finds source of oil leak by looking for clean streaks.

Hey fightman, i live in hamilton ontario and i usually get it sprayed by Rust Check, but im tired of handing them 120 bucks to do it. Do you add anything to the used oil to coagulate it or anything? Thanks

Nothing else man... it's NOT dripless.... so keep that in mind. It will take some time to stop dripping, but a good drive down a dusty road helps.
Again, this process is NOT for everybody... but if you're up for the task, don't mind the mess, and want to keep your vehicle from looking like Swiss Cheese.... it's well worth it! ;)

Its nice to see all of your hard work pays off. Your T4R has survived a long time in a rather "hostile" winter road environment!

I'm down in Mississauga just west of Toronto and I think this is illegal in the city limits. I've heard of people doing that, not to that extent but I think it can result in a significant fine around here.
Not too many options besides Krown and Rust chek.
That's a cool idea regardless.
My truck needs to be driven into a lake of oil.

You may very well be right... not entirely sure on that one. That being said.... I do spray mine in a rural area.... so there are no neighbours to complain.
If you're correct, it's pretty sad really.... only option is to pay someone $120.00 to goop up your truck, and they don't necessarily do as good of a job! :-D
I've paid to have it done twice... once by Krown (my Monte Carlo), and the 4Runner (paid $60.00) to a small shop to do it... they didn't do inside all the doors, rockers, or fenders... only the undercarriage. (the only reason I didn't do it that time, was because I in the middle of a 6 week recovery period from major abdominal surgery, and couldn't get under the truck to do it!)
Regardless, I'll be doing my own for as long as I can.... I'm not paying someone to do something I can do myself, and do a good job at it too!
