MW 4Runner - Upgraded Exhaust Tip

Proud first time 99' Toyota/4RUNNER owner and currently in mod mode. Not one for bling, but more rugged and durability. I was looking to make minor changes to making my Runner my-own and to get my mod fix before my next project. So I decided to add a matte black exhaust tip. Nothing major, but an improvement. Here is the the before...

Next... I didn't want anything obnoxiously big and came across 3A Racing Onyx Series Exhaust Tip (62-2354MB). It's matte black at a length of 8.75", inlet 2 7/8", outlet 3 1/4" for pipe diameters of 2" to 2 7/8" and the cost was $15 on eBay, but I saw one at AutoZone for about $22. It was bolt-on but removed the existing mounts and had it welded on...

As you can see it turned out pretty well. Bob at Allied Muffler did a great job and made sure I was good with the initial mount prior to proceeding with welding the tip the full 360 and made sure I was okay with the 360 weld since the heat will cause the paint to flake. He also fabricated and welded a new hanger. After he finished, he went shot if with high temp heat paint to not only cover the weld but proceeded to paint further back on the rest of the pipe as well. Not bad, not bad at all.

Just a note, he did add a pipe insert into the exhaust tip. I guess as some type of spacer to allow more base material for the weld (indicated by red square).

Finished product, looks factory... and yes the can of hi-temp paint you see in the pic, is the same as what the shop used. I just did some touch-ups. All in all invested $45 ($15 for Hdw and $30 for labor) which in some cases is what you would pay for the exhaust tip alone.

Thanks for reading my first write-up.
