What happens when it is time for a new/rebuilt transmission?

I have a 2002 4Runner with 303,600 miles and am still on the original transmission. Who does the best remanufacturing process, are there upgrades that can be done, or should I just trust the local tranny shop?

Why are you considering a rebuild?
Is it good to do a flush at this miles?

what's the reason you think you need to rebuild or buy a new tranny?

IPT or Level 10. They do the valve body upgrades for trucks with superchargers. Only downside for you is that both are located in NJ so you would have to ship your transmission there or tow it up there.

I don't believe Marlin does Auto's, shipping it off isn't a huge concern just as long as its done right and will last another 300,000.

As to why I think time for a new tranny, well no reason I have odd whines here and there but nothing really wrong. I'd just like to have a plan in place for when the time comes.

If it whines, I'd check the fluid in the tranny first, see if it's low or burnt. Otherwise since it seems to be running good, you could always start looking at salvage yards for a low mileage donor tranny for probably a lot less money than rebuilding yours.
