Plasti Dip update

So I have plasti dipped all of my bumpers and my rims. Bumpers are doing great rims pretty good too but the around the weights its starting to bubble up. Also I did the grill mod and painted that with bedliner. There was a little chip, so i took it off and gave it a new coat.

I would paint the wheels and swap out the clip on weights with stick on weights. Have you thought about matching the bumpers? I think it'd look good.

Btw, how do you like the Prodigy H/T tires? I had a set installed back in April because my BFG's were cracking and bald. They've been good so far in rain and slush. Not to say I plan on using them for mud and crawling.

The bumpers and rims do match. The rims are dirty so they look more faded. And for the tires. They were a hs graduation present since my other tires were getting low. Mine have a slight balancing issue at 60 my steering wobbles a little but other wise they are doing great as tires. There's no slush here in ga but in rain haven't had any problems.

I'd take the clips off the outside and either get stick-on weights (which I personally don't like as I've had some fly off my old mustang) or get the weights put on the inside which is what I have on my T4R. After that you can re-plasti dip them (which will fade and go away in time) or paint them with actual paint, or if you want to go all out have them powdercoated. As far as reselling goes I'm sure you could sell them black, it may be easier with silver but definitely not impossible to do.

Whoops. I meant matching as in matching the bumpers to the body in white.

My plastidipped bumpers and grille are holding up very well. Only peeling in high traffic areas. Like near the hood latch, where I graze trees, etc. Direct hits on the plastidip are still fine, it's the scraping that damages it. And part of my rear bumper is rotted out(P/O dipped over the rust after being rearended), but the dip is still holding up well! Better than the metal, at least!

In this first picture you can see a few minor scratches to the dip, the other side is much worse. Even with the major distortion from the rock being jammed in there, the dip sticks to the bumper very well.

In this second picture, you can see where my fire department plate is caved in a bit, that was a direct hit into a tree after sliding down a rocky hill. Almost stopped in time to miss it too, darn.

If you take off the clip on weights to paint the wheels and replace with the inside stick on type, do you have to have the wheels re-balanced or just put the stick on type with the matching weight?

Sorry for the hi-jack thread. I want to paint my 5 stars gloss black.

Just to be safe I would have them rebalanced. It would make sense to just place them inside but you'd probably have to be really exact to make sure they're balanced right.

you can paint over the plastidip and later on just pressure wash the rim and it should peel off

Doing the stuff I do definitely isn't good for the body of this thing haha. And yes, armor all works wonders. I will be waxing this thing soon(for prom), may even have to detail the ladder truck I will be taking to the green! haha

I used to wax mine every now and then but since the clear coat is fading i figured id just keep the paint clean. Have fun at prom though.
