I noticed this morning that something around the front right tire in my 2000 4runner rattles when I hit a normal road bump (bridge transition, manhole, etc.). I'm not sure if it's the suspension or some other component, and I couldn't find any specific mentions in a forum search for a 3rd gen so I thought I'd ask for ideas here. I don't have any skid plates, and it definitely feels like the axle or other mechanics of the wheel are rattling. Actually kind of reminds me of the feeling my Honda CRV had for a while until I got the front sway bar links replaced. Could this be the same issue on the 4Runner?

Check your swaybar end mounts - I broke mine not long ago and it rattled pretty good.
