Cruise Control light doesn't come on and Cruise doesn't work.

My cruise control was working fine a couple weeks ago.
Now suddenly the dash light doesn't come on when I press the cruise control stalk and cruise isn't working at all.

Over the last couple weeks I've done the following:

-Cleaned throttle body & MAF.
-Replaced a failed clock and Climate Control.
-Replaced a burned out 3rd brake light.

It was during this time that cruise control stopped working.

What I've done to t/s the problem is the following:

-Tightened throttle/tranny/cruise control cable at the throttle body.
-Checked all fuses.
-Horn works, but I do have an airbag light on the dash.

The Cruise Control is a new problem. But other problems I've had over the last couple months are an airbag light comes on intermittently on my dash and my gas guage intermittently works.

Could be a bad clockspring causing both the cruise and airbag issues.

Thanks for the suggestion!
I've heard mention of that. Isn't the horn not working supposed to be a symptom of that? That's why I ruled it out (so far) because the horn still works.
I should probably google a way to test it though.

What bothers me is they didn't all three stop working at the same time.

First it was the airbag light.
Then a couple weeks later it was cruise control that stopped working.
Then almost a week before the horn stopped working.

You would think if they were all linked, that they would all stop working at the same time.

Well how cool is that.

I bought an '02 4runner Clockspring and installed it in my '99 today. I had to splice the yellow connector from my '99 clockspring because they were different sizes (but same wiring code).

Now everything works!

Btw, when I used my ohmeter at 200ohm and put one lead to one of the 2-prong connectors of my old clockspring, and the other lead to the other 2-prong connector, nothing happened.

But the new clockspring went to "0" when I did this. So I guess that is one test to check if your clockspring is good or bad.

Thanks guys.
