I just got a BajaRack from Columbia Overland, $590 shipped. Fits perfectly, much heavier made and better fit than the Load Warrior I had before, and it doesn't stick up so high.
I like the looks of the Whitson Metal rack but by the time you pay to have it powder-coated (~$75-100 here) you've got more in it than my Baja Rack cost ($463 plus shipping). And I have to take it to the powder-coater, pick it up, etc. Either one are much better quality than the Yakima or Thule MOAB.
Izzy, if you'd had a Whitson or BajaRack instead of the Yakima you might still be driving that silver 4Runner.

Without having an extension it will be a little awkward with your spare up there.
Place the part of the brackets that snap in between the bars upside down/ reversed. Disconnect one side on the cross bars and than slip the basket in with the cross bars over the bottom bars of the basket and than reconnect the cross bars to the mounts. And finally the top part of the brackets.
It takes some time to play around with it, you may also want to use simple u joint brackets instead of the Yakima mounts, because the Yakima mounts are a little bulky.
I can post more detailed pictures if you are confused

Please share the pics. It too like these other full length roof racks but not the cost. I bought my Yakima Load Warrior w/ extension used for $140. I wanted a lower profile so here is how I 'mounted' mine. Would like to see your creation.

with the op, i can see the $200 difference between the load warrior with and extension vs the other full lengths but whitson does make a 3/4 rack as well that's the same price if not cheaper than what your looking at doing now, and it's low profile with out any weirdness ....
3/4 length for "Asking $375.00+shipping as shown." he might have a christmas special running right now, you need to pm and ask

yep, so that's it and my view on it, go with what you like though as it's your money and your rig, plus i can;t have to many people running around with the same mods as me, it makes mine special, lol, good luck in your choice!

unnoticeable with the sunroof closed, not really bothering with it open either, i find it to be acceptable in all cases... i's obviously louder than nothing, but it doesn't whistle or roar when driving down the road which is the big things imo.

I had the Yakima loadwarrior, bought it brand new. Quickly sold it because while cruising on the highway with the sunroof open it was loud due to the wind hitting the windscreen. I purchased a used Rola rack and love it, no wind noise due do it being lower profile and more aerodynamic. Imo the lower profile racks look nicer.
