So get this, the leak stopped.

I'm not one to believe things just stop but I topped off the rad and started the vehicle. Let idle for a good 15 minutes. The area it leaked evaporated and I shut it off. Still no leak.

Test drive tomorrow. If I can't replicate the problem I might wait till I'm home where I can borrow a pressure tool and see if i can find any faults.

With a bit of relieve this morning there was evidence of a leak again. This time it was clear it was the block heater leaking. Not so major or expensive of a fix compared to the oil cooler. I'll limp home and then start to find a Toyota plug heater to install.

I know heaters in diesel engines...

Shibby, I wish I saw this thread sooner! It's more than likely the block heater, it's fairly common on 5VZ's and I have replaced it on mine for that exact problem you're having. Remove the driver front tire, and fender splash shield and it's right there.
