I didn't realize people were still following along. Yes! stuff if still happening, slowly but surely. Not so recently anymore but we got news we're expecting come April so I ended up having to rearrange some schedule and ended up buying a new 2020 Tacoma double cab and am currently selling my 2003 Xtracab.
Since the last update though a lot has happened.
Test fit the motor/trans location in the body:
Got the exhaust mostly figured out:
Deleted the SAP system and hid some of the electronic controlled valves that get "checked" on system start up:
Filled in the hole where the headers interfered with the strut tower:
Got my 4x Innovations sliders powder coated to match the FN Wheels pretty darn good:
Ordered replacement brake and fuel line and fabed a DIY straighener:
Test fit the Aussie Diesel Radiator and made up the Rad and PS lines:
Plumbed in the intake and welded in the mounts, also filled the old boxed holes
Then the weather was junk for a few weekends so I decided to do my diff builds/rebuilds. Front was just a rebuild for 4.10s, new bearings, and electronic selectors. Rear was elocker 4.10 retrofit, new bearings and axle housing work and panhard bar lift.
Radiator shroud got bent up and corners welded from a buddy's friend. Gonna need some tweaking to fit better it's tight right now
Man that's a squeeze! What are you going to do about the fan? Doesn't look like you have enough room between the shroud and accessory drive/hoses. Going to mount a pusher on the inside of the shroud forcing air out toward the motor?
As apparent from my ghosting of this thread, the project lost steam when life changed, kids were born and projects shifted priorities. I've been considering letting this project go to a new home in it's current state, with my certifiable amount of spare and "in case" parts I stashed from the donor tundra and various u-pull-it parts hoarding. Even if I were to finish this to a running state, I just don't see how it fits into my vehicle line up future state and would prefer to let someone enjoy it and hopefully finish what I started.
If I cannot sell it together, I may part out the pieces but prefer a complete sale for my health and my wife's sanity.
I need to get a full inventory of everything I have, but I tried to update the 1st post to include it's current state
