Cold Air Intake Question

Okay. So the mounts on my cold air intake are not holding as well as I'd like them to. I got a mechanic at some Big Al's to do the weld for me when he was done welding my exhaust.

I want to go with either a K&N or TRD or some other cold air intake.
I know that there aren't drastic results with these and some say to keep it stock due to horsepower reasons.(Some say they dyno-ed their truck and lost HP after they installed the aftermarket CAI. I am not worried about all of this.

All I want to know is where these aftermarket cold air intakes mount up to?
I have searched and can only find the Tundras, newer 4Runners and Tacomas running these intakes.

Here is my question in the form of a picture.

WAIT! I spoke too soon. Now I have another question. Is all of this provided with a K&N intake? (In terms of the piping. Not the MAF sensor housing and air box. I am assuming all that on there is factory) I am going to be using their cone with the heat shield, not the air box. Even though I like air boxes more..

I actually have a K&N that I used for a short time for my 1999. My wife asked me to put the stock back on! If you want, I will sell it to you and ship. Make me an offer. It is missing one screw in hose inlet. I can probably find at auto shop prior to sending. It actually mounts right to your throttle body then there is a flat bar that comes down and will bolt into your engine through one of the bolts already there and then to the Air box screw holes.

I have the K&N and it bolts up in the #2 spot in the pic in your post. Since you have a 2002 I think you have a couple other options, but K&N is the only company that makes an aftermarket CAI for my 96. My stock intake was all dry rotted and fell apart when I took it off lol

Oh and I cleaned my engine and you were right, it got rid of the noise. Dirty timing belt... noise is still gone but now the engine is dirty again thanks man! I was getting nervous for a minute lol

I have a full k&n system still new in the box I've decided I'm going with a snorkel and no longer need it. Pm me if interested. I paid well over $200 for it. I'll take 180 make offer.

Just go buy the K&N CAI.

Once you get it the installation will be obvious. Good luck

You don't have yet correct? Once you get it you will see how simple it is to install.

I noticed a difference with the K&N CAI only after:
1. installing it
2. at the same time installing a high flow exhaust
3. letting the computer get used to the upgrade (basically drive it around for a day)

You need to do with the exhaust. Just doing 1 will not give you much gain.

I have K&N CAI, aftermarket exhaust, headers.

If you do get an exhaust I suggest you put some kind of anti-drone silencer just behind the muffler. My truck has one that came off of a stock Tundra.

I have the Volant intake. It's a personal opinion but I think it looks a lot cleaner and sounds better than the K&N. but each to their own

other closed intakes to consider are AFE and Airaide

Thank you everyone for your responses.
I will do some more homework now that I know it's possible. I just don't still have the silencer. It appears I've lost it.

I will look at the Volant and K&Ns. Some of you might be getting PMs here soon. I have always installed Tein products and such on my friends ricers
