Exclamation Just installed new Old Man Emu lift, but worried about the angle of the control arms!

Hi guys, I just finished my Old Man Emu lift and it turned out great, but I'm a little worried about the angle of the control arms. I need some help on what to do. I'm going to order a diff drop kit from OME to partially fix this problem. Any advice?

Thanks

If you want to see before and after pics, lemme know guys

They're fine. Also, diff drop just fixes the CV angles.

That kind of angle doesn't worry you? It just doesn't look right to me haha, I just ordered a diff drop kit from toytec. Someone I spoke to was telling me that a diff drop helps with the angle of the control arm slightly too. Maybe he's FOS.

No, I've been running my OME setup for over two years. If you wheel the hell out of it you'll start busting UBJ's but it just comes with lifting it. If you're really worried about it you should look into some Camburg uniball uppers.

I wouldn't ever say the guys from toytec are FOS, but I don't know how a diff drop would help your UCA angle much. Maybe I'm missing something.

Agreed... Unless your axles are binding they should have no effect on ride height

It wasn't the guys at toytec that told me the diff drop would help. It was a local shop.

Diff drop won't help the control arms at all. But like others said, that's about standard position for a lift. Just keep an eye on the UBJ's.

Dude, that's exactly how I've been feeling all day, it's been making me sick. I feel like I'm going to break stuff as soon as I hit the trails. All the support you guys have gave me eased my worries a little more. It's just funky looking. Glad it's normal though.. Thanks

It's not the angle off the UCAs you have to be worried about. Its the Ball Joints, both upper and lower.

While the likely hood of a UBJ failing is not as great as a LBJ, it CAN happen. If you haven't replaced them lately, I would do that next.

To help with the UBJ, you can always go with a set of Uniball UCAs. They're pricey though.

And, no. A Diff Drop WON'T help with the angle of the UCAs, just the CVs, like already stated. BUT, if you put a Diff Drop on it, you'll now be messing up the propeller shaft angle, as well as starving the pinion bearing.

Again, like already stated, if the CVs aren't binding, you're fine.

So what can I do to rectify the problem brought on with the diff drop? Pretty much just don't do it, if I don't want the added problems?

Regarding diff drop, I don't think it's necessary and can cause problems within the diff. You are going to get a lot of differing opinions on the diff drop. Research and make a decision that makes sense to you.

Control arm looks normal with lift.

No. And no issues with CVs. Off road once or twice a month on average.

That's sweet, what kind of offroading do you do? Do you take it easy on your rig?
