I like the term "major service refitting" - learned it reading about the RMS Olympic. Hey, this is a duty grade, service grade veehuckle.
M Y P L A N
FLUIDS:
It needs all new fluids - the office I rent has a lift bay and tools so I want to see/do all this meself.
ENGINE:
It needs plugs/wires, timing belt/water pump, radiator, valve cover gaskets, maybe other stuff. I plan to get bids on this including one from my Toyota dealership - the lady there is nice and tries to make it not hurt. Who would you trust??
SUSPENSION:
[Episode VI: The End of The Sag Saga, rated R for relief!]:
My 4r sags in the back and is comical with stuff or people in the back. Now, I've read many posts here and much talk about saggage and liftage and the myriad products in play on this dimension...and I have not had my highly-particular proclivities titillated plus I'm confused, so I must petition the court...again...o dear...
Usage profile:
I commute over railroad tracks and crappy Dallas streets, go on dates to swank Dallas places with big-haired cuties
, take trips around Texas and surrounding states, hop curbs, visit folks with unpaved ingress/egress roads
, carry people and heavy music equipment
, may begin towing my motorsickle. Note that, tyrewise, I've enjoyed my Michelin 265/70/16 Lattitude Tour tyres but am open to suggestions. My shocks are NTB's monroe option - they were squishy from the start. Bybye.
Proclivities (starting with the rear
):
Rear:
* Want it a tad high out back (does 2 inches=one tad?, and is 2" u-joint unfriendly territory?). Is 1" what I should shoot for?
* Want smoothest ride I can get away with - not pointlessly rough
* Want it to resolve to being level with people/gear or a trailer - not ever sag
* [best would be ability to adjust it for cargo - I believe all cars should have an economical way to do this]
Front:
* Smooth as possible
* Stock height or a half-tad raised
* All-new components fine - don't want/need to keep what's on there
Sounds like a legit question to me - coulda shortened it but where's the fun in that? Plus I love, I mean love, my ibm model m keyboard.
What a mess...from here I promise to behave.
Love and peace.
Keep Dallas intellectual.
