Question Painting Trim

I have a 2001 T4R, Sport Edition. I purchased a wood dask kit from B & I, while the wood looks beautiful, I see that it will not extend around the edges of some of the trim. In other words they are not molded pieces, they are flat. Unfortunately, the existing trim is silver in color. I could never understand why this was done in the first place. Anyway, it won't look right with the wood dash, does any one know how to paint the trim piece, perhaps black to help this project?

Re: Painting Trim

Well, I have a process I can have done, but you'd have to send you existing pieces in, and they can be wrapped in any finish you want. BUT, this is very expensive, very.

Hoenstly, I'd either just leave everything alone and install the kit, or return it.

You can't paint the existing pieces as the dash kit will never stick, and it will peel.

Thanks, Mr. Burtman. I had heard abou that process, but I simply couldn't afford it. Would you know of a way to buy trim pieces in different color? Or is that equally as expensive?

You probably didn't know before, but I can also get the B&I kits at discounted prices.

Your best bet would be to trade your "silver" trim with an owner that has the standard "black" sr5 trim. Or, buy the black trim from a dealer or used.

i have the black sr5 kit, kind of scarred from an intoxicated night of removing the wood grain sticker's. put on the aluminum stuff, if you want to trade and pull your wood off i will pay shipping for both of us so i can have the silver and you can have the black, none of the non covered parts are marked in anyway. have plenty of pics if interested

That sounds intriguing. Please show me pics. Also, to let you know, some of my sliver has a few nicks in it, but not in the spots that would be covered by a kit. If you want pics I can show you as well as soon as I learn how to post them.
