Guyduebro's Surf build..De-build

Well, I'm just going to jump right in here as the debuild of the new to me '98 surf is about to get underway. I'm a long time LandCruiser KZJ78 owner but am making the....lets call it....lateral move to a gasser Surf.
The two tone blue/silver is going bye bye in favor of a monotone Thundercloud metallic including all the jams and basically anywhere the blue remains.
Right now there is a 4" body lift and 2 1/2 suspension lift with 35's. That's a little too tall for me so we are either going to knock down the body lift or take a few inches out of the adjustable suspension...haven't decided yet. However the height as is..is growing on me. I just don't like the bubble overfenders so those are going as are the 35's in favor of 285's. Wheels are still up in the air. As I said, I've been a LC guy for a long time and am just learning about these somewhat different trucks... Let me know what you think and look forward to spending lots of time hanging out here.

Cheers

You're going to want to leave the 2.5" suspension on there. Knock out that 4" body lift and put in a 1-2" body lift.

I'm a fan of the blue...

I agree, ditch the body lift (that is HUGE!), and I really like the blue. I've never seen fenders like that before; they're cool, but I can see why you'd like to swap them out. Is it a gasoline engine?
Cool truck though man! Looking forward to seeing its transformation!

Well, I guess big and tall was the rage back then. My truck is pretty much the same build as the "Satoshi" (Satoshi mod) truck.

In Japan, there tends to be two types of off-roaders.... those that look like they do and those that DO. And unfortunately, those that do are in 60, 70 and 80 LandCrusiers...or Jimny's and modded Rubicon Jeeps. Don't laugh, I went to the regional off road competition yesterday and the Jimny's did very well. A few roll overs, but I also saw a LC 70 and a Defender on their sides, too. Not a single Surf in the competition.

Anyway, like the Satoshi truck this one I have was a 4x4 streeter. It only has 50,000kms and never saw dirt and to be honest it will see more deep snow than anything else with me as the new owner. I'll get the paint done and swap out the 4" for a 2" lift. Also, those fender flares are pretty pricey and rare items apparently.

The Satoshi truck..
