I inherited this well worn 1999 4Runner from my mother-in-law. It's not in great shape, but I'm working it out as I go.
I worked on fixing some of the electrical (which was as easy as replacing a bunch of blown fuses). The remaining items were the radio, clock, dome, and lighter. I took the front dash apart and removed a the jump cable from the aftermarket radio and put the power back into the harness. Everything worked fine (Radio, dome, and clock) until I tried to use the lighter. Even with the lighter empty it pops 15,20, & 25 fuses the moment I put the key to ACC on.
I was going to pull everything off that fuse and then add each item back on to see which was causing the problem, but I don't know if it is easier to do it at the item (ie take the dome apart and then pull the harness off the connectors) or if there is an easy way to disconnect them from closer to the fuse box. Maybe a REALLY convenient harness junction?
Any other advise is welcome as well.
