Power/Volume knob swap on 2002 4Runner

My CD player went out recently and I sourced a used A56811 oem model from an out of state junkyard. Surprise, the power/volume knob is faulty on it to the point where if you even glance the power knob, it will shut off an on. So changing the volume becomes a task.

Does anyone know how to remove the knobs or is there a write up somewhere showing how it's done? I figure I can use the good knob off of my old stereo if possible so I don't have to ship the new radio back.

2002 4Runner Ltd. Thanks.

You cannot remove the volume knob separately. What you can do, though, is take the good face off the old radio and put it on the new radio... assuming they're the same model.

The face just clips onto the body of the unit if I remember correctly.

Thanks, Fish. So the face and knobs come off in one piece?

Yep, the whole front of the radio comes off. I think there are 2 snap-thingamajobs on each side (and top/bottom) that hold it to the business end of the radio.

15 minutes and I'm back to a 100% working radio. So easy and saved me a lot of hassle. Thanks again!

Curious how you sourced the new radio. I need one also for my 2001 SR5.

I called NIXauto in WA. Then didn't have a radio stocked there, so they ran it through their search engine and found 2 in a junkyard in another state near me. I called my local Toyota dealer to get the right part number, but the junkyard went off of the set of numbers on the face of the radio.
