Reverse Camera Install -- Need to wire to reverse switch
Hi all -- noob here. Been using this site for a few years for great reference material, but I've been searching for a few hours and I'm coming up dry trying to track down the following:
I just installed a new Pioneer HU on a 2000 Limited and have added a reverse camera with it. The radio harness has a wire that needs to get power when in reverse, so it can automatically change source to the camera, but I don't know where to run this to. I don't have a wiring diagram.
I've seen reference to a red/yellow wire on the tail light wiring run, but I'd really rather avoid that if I could tap into a harness or something near the head unit. Does anyone know which harness or wires up front get power when in reverse?
I tried checking the harness in the fuse panel by the hood / gas latch release with a multimeter, but came up dry.
Thanks in advance -- Any help would be appreciated.
This thread discusses the red with yellow stripe wire, you can tap it in the at the drivers kick panel. I used it for aux reverse lights on my 2000, worked like a champ.
