Need some purchase advice on 3rd gen

I am looking at a 99 SR5 4wd with 213,000 miles. It is a one owner with all the maintenance records. Timing belt was changed last year for the 2nd time. New brakes good tires.

Should i be concerned about the mileage?
What should i pay for it?

Being a 1 owner with all records is a great start. Any accidents? Any rebuilds or replacements of major parts (i.e. engine, tranny)? If not, test drive it, work through the gears, try the A/C, check for leaks, etc. If nothing major...go for it. As far as mileage, lets be real...213k is a lot of miles. BUT, the fact that it was well maintained could mean it'll last much longer. There are plenty of individuals on here with 200k-300k+ miles (saw a few 400k+ and 1 guy who had over 600k miles!). Price, hmm...not sure about your area. Does it have rear locker?

I will get more time to look it over tomorrow. Will check for the rear locker.
No accidents. Mostly highway miles and no towing.

Lots of variables here, but I would guess 3800 to 4500.
As for the mileage expect to do a possible rebuild on the tranny within another 50,000 miles.

I bought a year ago a 99 limited 4X4 with 220K miles, dealer maintained, excellent condition I picked up for 5 grand which is a great deal considering its fully loaded and in great shape. Its got 240K now and cant wait to get it past the 250 milestone!

I got a chance to check the 99 out today.

It is the late gen 99 since it has the dual power outlets.

The interior is in great shape and the body is as well.

It does not have the real lock differential.

The timing belt has been changes for the 2nd time.

New brakes last year, pedal felt soft but this might just be the way 4runners are.

AC/Heat worked great.

4wd was smooth.

Steering was tight.

Shocks have never been replaced but the ride is good.

Rear tires are worn and have less than 5K left.

I think it could be bought for 4500 but still not sure this is too high.

Thanks for your input.

Gonna look at a 2000 model with 128,000 miles but is a 2wd. Priced at $6900.
