Simple 2" lift options?

I know this has probably been covered but the search here doesn't really return what I'm looking for.

I have a 99 4R, it has the tall coils. I would really like to go another inch and a half up, don't want to do a body lift, I want the extra clearance. As I understand it, this model sits an inch higher than the others, so basically when I see a set up that yields 3" I should really see that as 2" (from my current height), am I right in thinking this?

So I should be looking for a setup that yields 2-2.5 inches if I'm wanting to go up another 1.5", right?

I should say, I am totally new to lifting, I'm used to going the opposite direction. I'm a it overwhelmed at all the different options and basically have no idea where to start. If I wanted to go 3" I feel comfortable in making a decision, its just the height I want I can't seem to figure out the best route.

My driving is mostly street/pavement, but weekend fun, trails, hills, maybe a little mud...no rocky terrain or mountains around here at all.

Any suggestions or a point in the right direction? I don't want to pull the trigger on something only to not like it and start looking for something else, money and all is only going to allow me one go, so it has to be "right" or as close to right as I can get.

My tires are currently 285/75r16, but I'll soon be going down to 265/75r16, if that makes a difference.

Thanks for any and all input and sorry to have to ask something that I know is beaten to death here.

I'm sure it's been covered here 3rd Gen 4Runner Lift Information and FAQ's

With that said. Adjustable front coil/shocks will allow you to dial in exactly the lift and rake you want, now and when the coils settle.

I would do ToyTec front adjustable coilovers ToyTec Coil Overs (95.5-04 Taco & 96-02 4RUN) .

If the rear coils aren't too old and sagging and you like the ride, pop on some spacers. Or some factory LC coils, or some OME 906 coils.

Thanks for the input. I've read that thread tons of times.

I always feel like I figure it out, make a decision and then I continue to dig deeper and get confused, there's just so many options. The last vehicle I had the options consisted of which springs, which shocks or just do coilovers if you can't decide...and you have the money.

I went with H&R springs, Koni yellows all the way around, I wanted a 2" drop with shocks/struts that I could adjust for stiffness whenever I wanted, even though hey stayed pretty stiff all the time.

What's really throwing this off for me is the fact that you can do different options in front and back, I'm not used to that. If I have any rake I would maybe want half an inch in the rear to allow for gear etc.

Hey man, I saw your post and it reminded me of myself years ago..except I still can't figure out how to Chang Emmy damn signature on here...it's far gone, but anyways. I'd recommend the 2.5 spacer kit from fatbobsgarage, that's what I've had for the ingest time and it's been great. No real noticeable ride difference and gave me an extra 2.5 inches. And inexpensive here's the link: Toyota 4Runner 2.5" Front & Rear Spacer Lift Kit 1996-2002 -- Fat Bob's Garage Online Store
