Its because the engine isnt in the optimal running temps at that low of temp range.
What's optimal?

I have water temp on my scangauge and once warm it is always dead nuts on 170F unless I have AC on (172-173F). Obviously this is just cruising around.
If I'm pulling up a steep hill I'll get into the 190F range.

I've had mine for 2 years, and its always been around 196-200* range. It can be cold or hot, its always within this range, even with the AC on. I haven't changed the thermostat since I bought it, so I can't tell you which one is in there...

Thanks guys! All the info here is amazingly helpful! I'm not looking to supercharge my 4Runner very soon, but I want to prep the runner for it and get some of the performance stuff done prior.

What is the best high flow cat I can get for my money. I'm going to pair it with a flowmaster 50 series muffler and definitely get the urd o2 adapter.

Anyone figure out something for the accelerator and transmission bracket? I bought a supercharger from a guy with an '01 so he had the different bracket on there and I don't want to pay $170 for one stupid little bracket.

They look to be pretty simple to make, but I'm pretty sure @EatonKyleH has an extra one. I'd pm him in regards to it.

Congrats on the purchase! What gen did you get?

I just picked it up today. It has mostly everything except that bracket and then the parts that come with the dynamic tensioner so I'm gonna have to get that. He even gave me an '01-'02 throttle body with it so I can sell that and make some money back.

Oh and I now realize you asked what gen did I get. I read that real fast and read when did you get it. Haha. But I got the 2nd/4th gen black one.

4th gen is an Eaton designation. Only 3rd gen (grey called 1st gen by us) and 4th gen (black called 2nd gen by Us) were set up for use on the 3.4

96 3.4 TRD miss problem

Hi Supercharger yotas. I have a 96 TRD supercharger that I added in 2002 when my 4r had 120,000 miles. Recently I have been have my first problems with the engine missing when I get up to 2500 rpms. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem. So far I have, changed the fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator. Checked sensors, VSS, O2 sensors, cleaned and checked MAF sensor, checked for vacuum leaks. Unpluged knock sensors to see if that would stop the 2500 rpm miss. I did get a p0171 code once, but it didn't reoccur. Now the fuel trim readings and O2 readings seem normal. The MAF readings are just above normal readings for a standard aspirated engine I figure that is due to the supercharger. I have a exhaust gas temp gauge and the temps are normal. I'm about ready for the dynamite. Does anyone have experience with this problem?

For those with the TRD supercharger...Just out of curiosity once you put on the supercharger what type of gas are you running? Regular or Super??

I believe super unleaded in mandatory once you add the supercharger. Us folks in CA, only get 91 out of our super unleaded unless you get race gas, not very practical.
