Battery Light issue?

ok so I have the dreaded battery light on. After testing both battery and alternator they seemed ok, but I went ahead and replaced them anyway. The light is still on. Is there anything else, a sensor? Anything I'm missing?

Check battery cable connections. Check grounds, especially the battery to fender and the engine ground by diagnostic plug. What voltage are you showing at battery when engine is running? And at alternator post?

I just dealt with this very issue in the spring time.

I found the problem with my rig. There are three wires that connect the alternator. The white wire in the harness that monitors the battery voltage and tells the alternator to maintain voltage had a small nick in the plastic wire coating from the factory. Over time it corroded through and broke. So my alternator was running at full power perpetually. It also dropped my mpg to 17 because of the drag on the motor.

Check the continuity and voltage of each of the alternator harness wires. Mine is probably a unique situation but you never know.

Over 14 V at both baterry and alternator under load when running. No drop in voltage. Wires looked good when I had it all apart, grounds were solid.

Did you individually test each of the 3 harness wires coming off the alternator? Im not talking about the large gauge wire but the small 16 ga wires. The voltage regulator controls voltage so 14v reading doesn't mean much.
