Safelite replaced drivers window but now auto-roll-up does not work.

The safelite guy says it's not their responsiblity to make sure the auto-window-roll-up feature works properly after replacing windows. It worked before they replaced the window. Now the window auto-rolls all the way up, then acts like it hits something and then auto-rolls down 2/3 of the way.

Are they full of BS and should I call and complain about this? Or is this true.

They could've mounted the glass on the support too high up. You can adjust that yourself by taking the door panel off. I believe you can see the screw/bolts that hold the glass to the motor arm. You would loosen them and lower the glass, and then retighten everything. Recheck it again.

I have never messed with my 4Runner's windows, but I had to do this to my girlfriends VW Passat driver door. I would imagine their somewhat the same, as most of the auto stores sell the retaining clips that hold the window pane to the mount, universally.

But I would call management and complain about it. If it worked fine before, they replaced glass, and now a feature does not work, that is on them. I would take it up the corporate ladder until I get an understanding tone. Trust me, shit rolls down hill. I know, I'm an engineering intern.

Was this done under insurance or out of your own pocket? If it was under insurance, I'd call your insurance company.

True. I didn't think about that. If it was through insurance, you could at least have your insurance company on your side, hassling the living crap out of Safelite, or they could settle the loss and at least get it repaired for you.

It was an insurance claim, but Insurance gave me a check and let me pay whoever I wanted. So, technically it's no longer Insurance related.

So it's an easy fix? Guess I'll look into doing it this weekend sometime. Thanks guys.

Ah, yeah. Then insurance might not cover it after that, your right. But yes, give it a shot and try repairing it yourself. If you start having trouble, try to upload photos to this thread and I can try to walk you through it.

Sounds like this is what you are experiencing and here is the park reset procedure.

Vehicle Application: 3rd gen 4Runner 3.4

Customer Concern: Replaced the left power window regulator or window. Using the one-touch mode to raise the left front power window, the window goes up and comes back down half way. The right side works normally.

1. Remove the power window motor (Place match marks on the power window motor and the window regulator).

2. Connect the power window motor to the wire harness, turn on the ignition switch and press the up on the window switch until the motor completes 6-10 revolutions (4 seconds or more).

3. Assemble the power window motor and regulator. Install the motor when the regulator arm is below the middle point and align the match marks.

4. Assemble the door glass to the regulator, run the window up and down several times and verify that the auto up and down operates correctly.

THAT BEING SAID,

I'd complain and hope they take care of it for you as it is likely a result of their install. If they don't at least now you've got some info for the road to head down.

hope it all turns out well and if you for some reason decide to attempt this yourself feel free to PM me.

To add slightly to the post above, here is the FSM procedure. I suspect they did not respect the "HINT" when they installed the thing.

That's what it's called, the "regulator arm". Safelite repairman is obviously either new or careless. I would complain about that.
