Skid Plate Color Recommendations?
I have my skid plate off of my 2000 T4R Limited 4WD. I took it for sandblasting and powder coat. My truck is Imperial Jade Mica (Green) and I am wondering what thoughts people have on the color. I could go with the original black but was thinking of silver like the 4th Gen T4R's. I also thought about a "gun metal grey" or perhaps even a green color close to the color of the truck. Thoughts anyone? Have any pictures of your skids plates on a 3rd gen that have a different color than black? If so, please post them. Thanks!

Savage Offroad front skid plate painted silver.
I like our Savage Offroad skid plate painted silver -- it would completely disappear if painted black.

The stock piece should simply protect and not be seen so paint it black. Fancy skids I can see since the money you pay for them they should be seen.

Skid plate colors are like roses, each color means something.
Red adds 10 horsepower.
Blue is more aerodynamic.
Yellow adds 5 pounds of torque but weighs more.
Green will get you another 3 MPG.
Black tells everybody that you're secure enough in your manhood that you don't need everybody to know about your snazzy new skid plate.

Looking at a "gun metal gray" - a good middle of the road between silver and black.....

My thought is it's a skidplate and if you wheel it, it's gonna get banged up on the rocks. So powdercoating it might be a waste of $$. You can buy a few cans of VHT Rollbar Chassis paint in a variety of colors. It's pretty hard stuff and when and if your skid comes into contact with an obstacle and it gets all scraped up, you can just pop out a can, shake it and touch it right up. You could even do it on the trail if you decided to.

i rattle canned mine black with VHT epoxy paint. It looks close enough to powdercoating and is pretty strong, and most importantly its cheap to do and fix when it gets scratched up

I understand where you are going with this .... but I do feel there are plenty of colors that are not frat kid like.

This is SEM Charcoal Metalic Trim. It dries like a satin so if you want gloss be sure to top it with a coat of clear.
