Same old issue. But for the life of me I cannot find the fault.

2000 4Runner V6 Auto

Vehicle had a smashed rear end when I got it. Had a body shop replace the rear tail gate. When getting the new(used) one, he said that the harness didnt match up and replaced it with the old one.

My issue is that the window will not work with the switch, the wipers dont work, and neither does the water. Never tried the defoger yet, but probably not. I did notice that the rear latch wouldn't lock completely (first safety latch, not the second) so I replaced it with one from a 1997. Latch works now, but it trips the mpx-b fuse every time the tail gate is open! When that fuse blows, my power locks don't work without the ignition on. I did try pull back the harness between the body and hatch, but did not find any frayed wires.

Searching parts online looks like the harness and rear ecu is wrong??? put in my vin # at Toyotapartszone.com and came out with a different rear ecu #

Current - 85930-35040 (1996.08-1998.07 production dates)
should be 85930-35060(61) (99-2002)

found a 2001 Rear hatch with the new rear ecu, and the harness connector to the ecu is different. The old one has a gound block and the new one (I believe) is integrated.

My question is, if I change out the rear Hatch to the 2001 model, will it solve my issues? Sorry for the novel. Any input greatly appreciated.
