Holy damn, that thing is huge.
It's a good thing our '99 is the wife's and not mine, or I'd be very very tempted.

what about tuning? How do people tune these engines even in stock form? The only thing in regard to tuning for these engines I ever hear about is when using a blower and the 7th injector tuning piece.
please inform me... I'm much more knowledgeable and familiar with tuning on newer vehicles with hp-tuners or efi live.

If it came to tuning this thing with a turbo and the vehicle being OBD2 I would go standalone$$ and be done with it.

Standalone EMS to control the tuning, megasquirt or AEM. This looks very promising, I would through that fake ebay turbo away and use a good turbo like a real gt35r garret which is a big turbo but thats what you need to make good power, if you want low boost run the SC. Wonder how much he would take off the price without the turbo. I also dont like the manifold is for a t4, which is was a t3 mount.
This is pretty much what Addicted did and these guys beat them too the punch on a kit they can sell. If it was me I would go standalone, good turbo, large fuel system to hand E85 and would run some good boost. Problem with running say more than 12psi is the stock head bolts and head gasket would just fail. Need after market studs and multilayer metal head gaskets. I would also reweld every weld on that exhaust manifold and would also better support the turbo so less weight is on that manifold so it dont crack.
I really want to buy this kit!!

I emailed the company asking them for some specific dyno figures with their 3.4L kit since the ad says theyre built and dyno tested there. Ill let you guys know what they say.

it would give a bit more power if the air intake is a REAL cool air intake instead of an air intake inside the engine bay and near the turbo.

LMAO really. You dont know how to make real power. Intakes and exhaust are just what it is. A pipe to let air in and air out. Now when your running a turbo, that air gets heated like crazy, no madder how much cooler the intake charge is. Then it trys to cool again through the intercooler which dont do much either. You need high octane fuel, e85 or meth injection to lower the intake temps. Putting a cold air on that motor with that turbo wont do anything on the dyno.

These motors need small turbo's to make useable power. They hate to rev, so a small t3/t4 hybrid is what you want. Who cares about how inefficient it is up top, I'd want useable power right off idle through mid rpm range. Big turbos are good, but on a street driven car, I couldn't care less what it makes at the limiter, it's low and midrange that I'd be looking for. Also, I'm pretty sure you'd scatter the bottom end before it grabbed a head gasket, these motors have hypereutectic pistons that would fail much sooner than the headgasket would.

Dude, I think you're totally missing the whole point here. Our trucks aren't race cars. We don't need huge turbos to make big power on the top end. We need/want low and mid range grunt. My truck has only seen the big end of my tach on a few occasions, so I couldn't care less what it dyno's or makes for hp. We're not turbo'ing our trucks to have dick size competitions at the track, like an all out racecar would be. Those guys don't care what power the car makes in low/mid RPM's, they're all about top end. You're severely missing why we're looking to add turbo's to our trucks. Would a small turbo on our trucks be very inefficient in the upper RPM's? Yes. Would it be awesome for low and mid RPM applications, such as EVERYDAY driving conditions require. Absolutely.
