Our crazy offroad trip to Eagle Rock
So my buddy used to have a Mitsubishi Montero. Lifted, oem shocks, springs, 32's. I hated he. He ended up rolling it at the end of last winter on an ice shoot going up a hill which he lost traction and went backwards off the side of a little cliff, he was okay. The Mitsu not so much. He just purchased a 2004 FJ Cruiser with a rear locker, front bumper and some procomp rims so we decited labor day would be a good time to go test her out.
All of us have pretty capable rigs and eagle rock is no slouch of a trail. One guy brought a early 70's Scout he picked up for $100, $100 for tires and $50 for mounting. He also added some new doors made of electrical conduit. LOL. Anyways it was a mistake from the beginning. First he stalled out sucking it tons of water at the mouth of the trail. Tried to show boat. Took us 2 hours to get going, had to pull him for 3 miles with my 4runner to get the water out.
After that we spend 4 hours, dragging him up the trail, with out trucks and winches. Never again can he come. Here are some pics.

Serious deja vu here. Should have contacted ya when we were up there a few weeks ago. Your buddy's pickup with the blue hood and blue hoop bumper looks just like my buddy's '88 Runner from the front and your '96 looks like mine. Who's the skinny cat in the last photo with the beard walking behind your rig? Just looked at your post and my wife was wondering if it was pictures from our trip. Weird...

That's funny -I kinda look like that dude and I am a pseudo-rock star. I'll have to contact ya when I come up there next. If we all get together, it'll be like some bizarre doppelganger moment from a scooby doo episode. Looks like a fun trip. Cheers -

Ugh... the showboating jackass. We have a guy who sometimes comes along who likes to do donuts in fields with his jeep. 1) you're destroying the vegetation 2) you're giving hippies an excuse to close this trail 3) when you roll your jeep, I'm going to have to tip it back over. *facepalm*

Some people are total retards. A few years back there were some american trucks with there giant lifts and shit tearing up a meadow like you said and got stuck. We had to come back with our tractor to pull them out and then explain that the meadow would take years to recover and they should be crucified.
As for the guy with the Bronco, I think I would of left him and told him if he gets going then meet you further up the trail. Though I guess that's probably a dick move so early on, especially since you didn't know you'd have to drag him the whole time. Sweet trucks by the way.

When we where leaving too the trail I said there is no way this Scout is going to make it up Eagle Rock. Its a tough trail. Its usually not to bad for me but with the wet ground and open diffs I had some issues getting up. We all did even the locker guys.
Again we where so close to just pitching together, paying him for his truck and just letting it roll down the hill. Then we where going to take turns with the AK and AR rifles till we got the thing to explode. But again we didnt want to trash the trail. There is enough broken clay pigeons in the mountains already. LOL

Cool pics, that's a beautiful area wherever it is. That white pickup is sweet too.

The white one is awesome. Its a 1985 22re fuel injected with the solid front and rear, the only year it came like that. Had low mileage and zero rust. It is the cleanest 1st gen I have ever seen.

Not an Early Bronco, Its an International Scout. As an EB owner i couldn't sit by and have you get it wrong, completely different trucks that merely share a couple design cues.

Eagle rock is a cool trail but definitely not very friendly to a stock vehicle. In my mind you need at least a little ground c,earache and some aggressive tires. Armor isn't require but sliders should be added before running that trail. I ran it in my 87 with 35's and a good lift and it ran eagle rock just fine. I hear that with all the weather we've had recently it got a bit harder though. I'm Hopi I can run it soon in my 98 but I won't do it till I build some armor.

Sorry, read it wrong. Honestly I don't know if I've ever even seen either of those vehicles.

I ran it with just my 7 wrap lc coils and 3" front lift spacers with 265's back in the day. If you take it right you are fine without armor. I had a lot more rough time this round through because it is a little more rutted and it was a little bit moist so the ground dug up real easy. The 33's and body lift did help with clearance though. I am going to get a rear locker first than the next upgrade will be sliders.
