2. I don't use the crossbars that lay flat. I took them off years ago and don't miss them
3. Those pieces are probably impossible to remove without taking off the end caps since they are in the rail. Have you looked around wherever you were when you pulled the caps. If your picture is accurate you are missing two not one. I think the end bars and the cross bars use the same piece so you will need eight total
4. Captain obvious here - but have you looked at the bottom of the cross rails to see if it is still screwed on. If you pull the end caps off you could theoretically slide the cross bars out with the piece attached

1. Ill have to go to a junkyard, agreed. However at this point its a principle thing haha. Why is it so difficult to find this part number?
2. I have had the crossbars off since discovering the missing nut...and kind of miss them. Without the crossbars, it looks less 4runner and more ordinary SUV.
3. That is why its so perplexing on how i could have lost one. I have never removed the crossbars, nor have i ever removed the end caps (all 4 are intact). The pic was swiped from ebay, so i didnt do an inventory hah, but looks like youre right...that setup missing one as well. IM not 100% thats a 3rd gen roof rack either.
4. I wish it were that easy...but yeah, i have it completely unassembled (except the rails).
Thanks for the response though. Im just going to have to find a local yard to find one of the stupid things.
