I know many people have installed body lifts on their 4runners without incident, And I have been planning on installing a 1 inch BL on my own.
But recently I came across a local 4runner being parted because of "stress cracks in body where lift pucks make contact"!
This scares the shit out of me! I would hate to trash my runner over something like this. I searched this site but couldn't find any information about this problem.
I am guessing it is one of two issues:
1) Over torqued bolts.
or
2) Added leverage from the lift causing the mounting points to be too weak.

Anyone have any expertise in this area that can reassure me that it is safe to install a body lift?

I don't see how the body sitting on a lift puck would be any different than sitting on the stock mounts. Either way, the body is sitting on a puck, just a different thickness. I think you're right, this guy probably over-tightened the body mount bolts.

The one thing to consider is that size of the spacer... Larger diameter the better for weight distribution...
