Front end collision help

I originally had this posted in the now hijacked "Front bumper" post. That brought no help, so I will try again.

Took the babegetter out of 4x4 while on the interstate (very stupid) in 3-4 inches of falling snow. Lost traction at 35 mph and went down a 10 foot divider and T-boned the guard rail. VERY close to rolling it over.

I have priced the lower valance on ebay for around $85. Is this an easy unscrew....remove....install, do-it-yourself job? Any help would be great.

A local estimate was $390, including the new bumper brackets because it is bent a few degrees up. I landed on the guard rail from above causing the bumper to bend.

Any help would be great.

Someone posted a toyota parts website, (I lost it) that had detailed pics and diagrams of body parts to purchase........anyone have it handy??

ok, basically you can get the aftermarket valance it wont be that much different in my opinion.

As far as the install, you'll want to get in behind the fender liner you'll have 2 10mm bolts on both side on the 90 degree bracket.

Then under the bumper on the 2 big reinforcement brackets you'll have a total of 4 12mm bolts I believe.

After that the chrome bar and valance come off. Then along the joining of the chrome bar and the valance you have a multitude of 10 mm bolts to undo. More than likely they'll be rusted so you might have to soak them down. All together there might be 8-10 of those I think. Aside from that it's a fairly easy install.

If you need any more help i'd be glad to any way possible.

personally, i would just leave it alone. it's just scratches right? and barely any dent? to me, i wouldn't even know it got hit from 5 ft away. besides the white scratches. but good luck with that.

It's true, I could leave it as is.....that would fit my budget well.
When I hit the guard rail, I thought for sure the whole front end including the hood was toast........I was amazed what little damage it caused.

But, it's going to be fixed....I feel guilty.

bmay: Thanks for the insight, when I get to fixing it I will probably need some help....As far as the aftermarket valance, do you think they come with the fog light filler caps, screws and the seal strip that appears to be there?

it's been awhile, but I dont think it comes with any of that. Basically you just get the valance and you have to transfer the rest over.

but like i said if you need any help just yell.

if you look in the gallery forum you'll see the wrecked 98 i just bought, so I'm going through alot of that stuff.

For $120 I found this frond end mask, that would blend in well with my black 4runner. Maybe a little fruity just to hide the damage...what do you think?

for way less than repairing it at a shop, id get it painted to match the body color... this will also eliminate the need for lame front end masks.

To be fair, it looks like he got into an accident and wanted advice, but instead of just adding his question to an old thread he's necrobumping to reach the post minimum to start his own thread.
