I am really considering the Autana as well! Hey, did you reinforce the roof from the inside at all? I am putting mine on a whitson rack, but saw a post (I cant seem to find now) about pulling the headliner out and adding some lock-nuts, longer bolts and steel to the inside. Just curious if you have done any of that?

I decide that I would take a different approach and build a flat rack that will more evenly distribute the load on the roof. I built this with basic materials that can be found at your local hardware store and used a harbor freight welder to assemble it. Now I have no more rattles that tent is secure and it sits lower on the roof. :ylsmoke:
Whoops! Nevermind^^^ haha

This is what it looked like on the top side before I welded it. Nice and flush, so that the tent sits even on the rack.

I really love the racks! I am curious what kind of tracks are on the roof, I have a 994r with the 2 black strips/tracks but they are not open or hollow for brackets like the ones on your 4runner? thanks for the insight

Yeah you don't have a factory rack then unfortunately... I had the same thing when I got my 2000 and had to find a rack for it. Just the rails are the important part to get, good luck!
