Center diff lock switch

I have a 2002 SR5 Sport with the multi-mode transfer case. It goes into and out of 4WD really well. Can anyone tell me if the center diff lock switch is lighted on yours? I pulled the switch and there is a bulb in the side of the switch. I replaced the bulb and still have no light. It does not light up with the headlamps on or when it is pressed. It's kind of hard to find at night. There are only two wires going to the plug. Was this light possible for Limited models only? Thanks for your input.

I have an 01 base model and the actual switch doesn't light up. Even if it did I don't think it'd help since it's kinda hidden behind the steering column.

I have an 01 as well and it does not light up, the only way I can tell it's on is
that when you have 4wd enabled and the little green lights come on saying your in 4wd the orange light in the middle tells you if the center lock is on.

Yeah that's how mine works too. Sometimes the orange light might flash a few seconds before it locks. No light on the switch itself. Wonder why they put a bulb in the switch?

Hmmm, now I am curious. I will have to look at this on my 01 SR5. Really strange to have a bulb there for no reason.

Just as I suspected. The Limiteds have it and we don't. I bet it's got 4 wires running to it also.

Shouldn't be hard at all to make it light up if a bulb is already there. Kind of a cheesy thing for Toyota to do though.

sa

Easy to do. Hook one of the open pins Center diff switch to the white wire with green stripe of the dimmer switch and hook the other open pin to green wire also at the dimmer switch.

Not really worth it though.
