Cool Windows Up Or Down

Maybe it is all in my head, maybe I am just a bit nuts. But after doing my mini header I have noticed better mileage. I have oddly noticed even better mileage if my windows are up and the A/C on; yes I live in FL and we are still needing A/C this time of year.

Anyone else notice this, or is my truck some kind of Vudu Magic?

Better with windows up than down?

This is because you have less air resistance or drag by having the windows up rather than down.

your theory makes sense haha i get it.. but im betting the differences are only marginal and arent that significant

Yeah, I think that whole theory has been 'BUSTED', besides, how much extra wind drag are you really going to have at 60-80mph? I mean it is an SUV, designed to CREATE wind drag! Now if you were doing say 200mph, yah...there might be an issue.....

The reason I find this odd is because in every other car I have owned a/c running was worse mileage. With the 4runner I notice a large difference in power with the a/c on thus making the truck require more to get going. I have no clue. Maybe the difference is just marginal and I drive like a tool with those extra 10 HP when the a/c is off. Lol

I think the myth of windows down AC off equals better mpg has been pretty well busted.

Mythbusters - Save more gas with AC on or Windows down Ans with AC - YouTube
