My son has 274k on his. He literally drove it from college in LA to his summer internship in Brooklyn, NY this year.

My son has 312, 470 miles on his 97. All original.

I have 255k on my 2002 sport and my wife has 252k on her 2001.

We have all 3 in the driveway. Folks usually say wow, you must like 4runners!

A couple down the street has a 2001 with 344k on the clock and is asking $4500. What is it really worth. Quick look at pictures makes it look clean, but those miles acare me for that price.

AAMCO full inspection and spark plug replacement and service 11/2018 Battery replaced fall 2018 Alternator replaced fall 2017 New tires 280,xxx miles 12/ 2017 Coolant cleaned out and replaced recently Timing belt and water pump have been replaced which is the big repair that needs replaced after 240,000 miles on the average 4runner of that generation.

That is my T4R's twin.

I paid $7,200 last Oct. and it had 154k miles with good maintenance history.

Regardless of market differences, I think that price is too high. That's, at most, a $3,500 T4R in my book.

Good luck,

Eddie

I'm at 302,000 miles and it's running strong. I did an overhaul at 300,00 with a bunch of new parts (timing belt, spark plugs, brake booster, etc.), but it just keeps going. I expect to get AT LEAST 500,000 out of it.

Check that frame really closely. If it was really cared for, it might be worth almost that much. If it is rusty or needs work, not so much. Maintenance quality is more important than miles...

I’m at 278K on my 2001 Limited with bulletproof engine and tranny. No complaints.

397k on mine and totally stock with original drivetrain. Slow oil leak from rear main but otherwise runs wonderfully.

I have 801 miles on mine. Probably time to trade it in... ;)

My yearly average on a vehicle is about 4500 miles or so... This truck should last about a 100 years.

I wonder if I should change the timing belt/water pump, fix the rear axle seals/bearings or just see how it goes. I'm hesitant to put over $1k into something worth maybe $3k.

To reduce costs, I have started to do some of the work on the car, spark plugs and replaced radiator about 6 months ago. I have a backup vehicle to get me to work and the parts store.

I'll stick with this one unless I luck into a 3rd gen creampuff with 120k on it for cheap.
I love my T4R 99 and I have been using it to pull my 6x12 cargo trailer for my mobile bicycle repair business for the last 2 yrs. I upgraded the front brakes to Tundra set and went through 2 sets of rear airshocks before upgrading to HD mechanical shocks. I do not plan on getting rid of it anytime soon because it runs so well. I am aiming to just keep on running it until either it dies or I die, whichever comes first.
