14 years old and 90K miles what do I need to do?

Ok back ground story,

99 well taken care of 4-runner 3.4L auto.

I just got within the last two months.

I have done all the regular maint., but Im curious if anyone can let me know if im missing something or if there is something that is prone to failure I need to keep a close eye on around this age/mileage.

Here is what has been done.

3 year old radiator,
timing belt water pump just done
transfercase and both diffs drained filled
tranny fluid
brake fluid
power steering fluid
plugs/wires.

cleaned MAF after it threw a code

Am i good or are there certain bushings etc. prone to failure?

Thanks

Bypass the stock radiator transmission lines to a new Tranny cooler, Lower ball joints.. Then drive it!

dont worry. ive got the 3rz-fe 5 speed 4x4. 395xxx kms (around 242xxx miles?)

other than the basics like intake, diff fluids, oils, plugs and wires; i my rig hasnt had a single hick-up. my exhaust IS falling apart, but to me, thats not important. hence why ive only got 4 feet of it. (nothing after the CAT)

just keep up with the basic things, treat your rig right, and dont be afraid to clear he throat, (red line a day keeps...) she wont complain.

Well, brakes need to be looked at for more than fluid. Check shoes and pads, and a clean, lube and adjust on the rears, including bellcranks (especially if it sees road salt), is probably needed. It is at about your mileage that I found a few front suspension/steering things needed to be done. You should check:

What I needed:
Shocks
Swaybar endlinks
Swaybar bushings
Steering rack bushings

What I don't need yet but I watch:
Inner and outer tie-rod ends
Lower ball-joints
Springs

I also did fuel filter at 100k, I do PCV valve every other plug change, and did PCV grommet at 100k.

Other things you did not mention that are near end-of-life if original :
fan clutch
aux. belts*
Thermostat*
Rad hoses*
Both O2 sensors
starter contacts.

Those with an * I changed as PM at 120K with TB/WP. Fan clutch and o2 sensors died so they got done. I did the starter contacts at 155k when I did my clutch and they had almost nothing left. I assume your coolant got changed with TB and WP. I also clean the the throttle body when I do the MAF.

That covers everything I have done in 160k.

Yep. That's about it. Maybe belts and hoses.

thanks for the input,

I will keep an eye on the ball joints and tie rods, dont know a whole lot about them. However the steering is tight at this time. All Aux belts got replaced along with the timing belt.

Tranny fluid cooler /bypass is in on the schedule, but with the KOYO radiator being 3 years old im not worried about it until this summer.

I guess I missed that i need to replace the PCV valve? Fuel filter not lifetime?

As already mentioned, I would probably do the lower ball joints just for peace of mind. Not sure if it's really necessary at 90k, but it would make me feel better.

I have mulched a few sway bar bushings and broken some sway bar endlinks, so you might check those out... not really critical hardware, just something to keep an eye on. Aside from that, I'd say you're good to go.
