Ultragauge OBD Monitor: Recommend Alarm Setpoints

Hello,

I just picked up an Ultragauge OBD monitor and it gives you the option to set alarm points, such as for when temperatures become too hot or etc.

I am just wondering if you guys could care to take a look at the below alarm setpoints and could comment if you think it should be different? These are the alarms I care about...the actual list is much longer and there's a few that I turned off. I also have a few alarms that I don't know what I should configure for, so maybe you guys can help with that.

I drive a 1998 Toyota 4Runner with the 3.4L 5VZFE engine.

Current alarm setpoints:
Engine Coolant Temperature High: 120 C
RPM High: 5500 rpm
Intake Air Temperature High: 99 C
Catalytic Converter Bank 1 Sensor 1 Temperature High: 1100 C
Catalytic Converter Bank 2 Sensor 1 Temperature High: 1105 C
Battery Voltage High: 15 V
Engine Load High: 90%
Outside Ambient Air Temperature High: 50 C
Fuel Level Low: 3 Liters
Kilometers to Empty: 30 km
Ultragauge Internal Temperature High: 65 C

Other Alarms:
Need help with these alarms, these I currently have set to OFF. Please suggest setpoints if you think these should be ON (and if so, whether it is a low or high setpoint).

Short Term Fuel Trim Bank 1 (default 0 low, 0 high)
Long Term Fuel Trim Bank 1 (default 10 low, 10 high)
Mass Air Flow Sensor 1 (default 0 low, 400 high)
Timing Advance (default -30 low, 30 high)
Bank 1 Oxygen Sensor 1 Voltage (default 0 low, 0 high)
Bank 1 Oxygen Sensor 2 Voltage (default 0 low, 0 high)
AFR Commanded Ratio (default 0.25 low, 1.75 high)

Thanks!

I have had my UG for about a little over a year now. and i have pretty much turned all the alarms off. they get super annoying I used to have my low fuel alarm on but it sucks having to manually reset the DTE every time you fiill up. even worse is the pesky alarm when you start the car.
Also I wouldnt have a Intake air temp sensor, doesnt really matter, ive had the intake temp read -20f (super cold out one day) to 150 F while climbing a mountain.

but i personally dont like the alarms because they keep going off until you suspend it or reset the alarm.

Instead i just have all the useful information on one screen and keep my UG on that first page. thats what i do.
Good luck

That's a lot of alarm setting! I only have one alarm set, the coolant temp. I have it set for 205F.

Haha I wanted to maximize the number of data points on a single page...which is why I'm using the 8 gauges per page setting. I mostly leave it on the first page (the important stuff).

If anyone has better layouts please share!!

Incase anyone wants to change the color of the display on the UltraGauge you can use stage lighting film which comes in many colors. Just cut a piece approximately 1/8” larger than the display and slide it under the plastic frame around the screen. I have one in my 2005 M3 and changed the color to match the dash lights using R25 film. Ultragauge OBD Monitor: Recommend Alarm Setpoints

I'll play along. Just the basics, no alarms. I really only look at Page 1 and often at night I dim the dash all the way and all that shows is the clock since the D 'Drive' bulb is burned out. There may be one other light but I can't remember what it is at the moment. I don't even look at the factory gauges anymore in daylight except to marvel about how 'off' the factory fuel gauge is. Spiker Engineering gauge mount of course......

Edit

1. Very old thread #oops

2. Noticed this pic is older and I have replaced Engine Load with RPM

I was reading the manual for ultraguage and this question was answered—MA2 is a calibrated version of the raw MAF reading (MA1) used by ultraguage for MPG calculations.
