Start by swapping a coil pack to another location and see if the codes change.

I'd say injector, but start with the coil. Depending how old the wires and plugs are, start there.
Some reading:

I second injectors
P0301 Diagnostic Theory for Shops and Technicians
When the code P0300 is set in the Powertrain Computer, it means that the Misfire Monitor has detected more than a 2 percent variance in RPM between the firing of any two (or more) cylinders in the firing order. The Misfire Monitor constantly checks the rotational speed of the Crankshaft by counting the pulses of the Crankshaft Sensor. The Monitor wants to see a smooth increase or decrease in engine RPM.
If there are jerky and sudden changes in the speed output of the Crankshaft Sensor, the Misfire Monitor begins to count the RPM increase (or lack thereof) contributed by each cylinder. If it varies beyond 2 percent, the Monitor will set a P0300 code and illuminate the Check Engine Light. If there is more than a 10 percent variance, the Check Engine Light will blink or pulse in a steady manner to indicate that a harmful Catalytic Converter misfire is occurring.

random multi misfire, I'd bank on a tune-up first... but I have actually replaced injectors in a 3rd gen before.

Injectors can defiantly do these codes, more likely though (and cheaper to try first too) is Plugs and Wires! pull them all out (individually) and take a look at the insulation condition of the cable!
I just fixed this issue this fall! good luck!

Thank you for the information. I'll look at the injectors also. All codes point to Cylinder 3&4 so it should be easy to hunt down.

A lot of threads about major problems with non OEM injectors.
Fightman's thread detailed his woes.

I know they are pricey, but maybe Camelback is around $150.
Try ohming each one out first, then if you find a dead one, order a new one and the o-rings. Or pull each injector connector with it running (I'd start at cyl 3).
Don't worry about the other five IMHO, unless you have a hefty wallet.

I too am having the same issue. Out of the blue my 97 started misfiring, changed out the plugs, no difference, just replace all 3 coil packs a little better but still misfiring P300 code. I'm looking for that magic answer as well.
