Lift help!?!?

I need some help guys!!

So ive been looking at toytec OME lifts for my '97 SR5, and was going to go with all new springs and diff. drop, But then I saw a post about using LC FJ-80 front coils as my rear coils, lucky me ALL my buddies and family have lifted FJ-80s and have plenty of springs sitting around.

So with those for the rear i still need coils and diff drop for the front, but im not sure what springs to buy or who would be the best...

I need some input.

Also, all the places say that their springs will not work with stock ride height Shock absorbers, is this true or can i run the same shocks until i have enough cash to throw down on all new shocks?

Second:
Toytec Lifts sells the front springs you need...consult the thread above for the correct spring.

Third:
If you're gonna do it, do it once, do it right. Get the correct struts for the lift springs.

Is it possible to do it with just The coil springs though and not the new shock absorbers? Just curious...

It depends on the condition of your current shocks and how much lift you are going to run. With those LC coils, you will be seeing at least 4 inches of rear lift so you will definitely need longer rear shocks for those. Keep in mind that the LC coils will lift the rear higher than the front as the max amount you can lift the front is 3 inches and still have everything work the way it should.

How many miles are on your truck and how much lift are you really looking to do?

the truck has 198,000 miles, but the shock absorbers only have about 15,000 miles on them... And what all would i be needing to replace for the LC springs to work right. Im only looking for a 3-3.5" lift. but figured it'd settle over time.

Im not doing any kind of crazy wheeling quite yet and I do have a bit of extra weight from rack, and soon to be bumper with tire swing. Plus the LC springs have settled which i prefer. That way it keeps it a little lower. I dont want it to look too raked.

I have run a couple different pairs on LC coils on my 4Runner and it was always at least 4 inches of lift even after settling. The bumper may bring it down some but since they are such a soft coil, it may settle too much with weight. If you want it to be more level, i would recommend doing a OME coil instead but i totally understand using a cheap or free LC coil too.

A set of OEM rear FJ80 shocks is a good cheap way to go or a set of the rear Bilsteins we have ride really nice too. LC coils and those Bilsteins were probably the best riding setup i had on my runner until i went to ICON's recently.

Panhard drop bracket and a longer brake line would be advisable.

If you are going to do the LC for the rear, this is one of our good bang-for-buck setups in the front.

Bilstein 5100 shocks
Front Bilstein Height adjustable 5100 shocks

3 inch Eibach coils
Toytec/Eibach front coil lift springs

I planned on ordering the toytec/ Eibach springs. Id love to get the bilstein 5100s too but cant really afford them at this time.
Another question, if I'm only doing 3 inched in the front do i have to do the panhard bar and brake lines just for a Daily rig for now?
Eventually I plan on changing them all out but for now keeping it easy.

The Eibachs only work on the 5100's so you will to get those if you want to run the Eibachs.

The Panhard drop and brake line is for the rear not the front. It is advisable no matter what type of driving you do and its better to just do it all at once.

Makes sense.. So would the OME's work with the original strut instead?

Only the 881's. Those will be about 2.25 inches of lift unless you add the top plate spacers too. Then it should be right at 3 inches.

But like LINY said, do it once and do it right. The 5100/Eibach setup will way outperform the stock shock with a OME and ride much better too.

I think im confused... not hard to do... On the website it says that the 881's and 883's both require matching shocks,
but you said the 881s will work without new shocks? Also it says only the 880 and 881 require a spacer for 3 inches of lift, does that mean that the 883's dont need the spacer and still get 3 inches? I do plan on building my bumper within the next month so I want to go with the heavier spring to reduce sag.

881's work with the factory shocks. 883's do not. The 883's do give 3 inches of lift without spacers but are a HD coil and require that additional weight already be installed prior to installing those coils. That goes for pretty much all HD springs. One reason why an adjustable coilover is a nice option.

Okay That makes total since now.

So if i said i have $400 to throw down right now you would recommend the Bilsteins and Toytec/Eibach shocks... then i need a diff drop as well correct?

Dylan, Thanks a TON for all of your help today! I ended up Placing an order this evening, I bought the Bilstein 5100's, the Toytec/Eibach front coils, and a 1" Differential drop.

Do it right the first time, right?
Ive got the LC FJ 80 Springs and Shocks sitting in the shop so depending on if they're here by next weekend or not I should have pictures up soon on my build thread!
