Skid plate for fuel tank is rusted out

I have been hearing a clunk sound as of late. I took a look under the drivers side. Only to find that it looks like the skid plate for the gas tank is all rotted out from rust. A local repair shop looked at it and thought the I need more than just being able to remove what was let of the rusted out skid plate. Does the skid plate also hold the tank in place in the rear?
I look up a parts list on a Toyota site and did not get a clear picture of what was needed.
Any help out there with from people that have dealt with this problem before would be a big help.

The gas tank has its own mounting bolts. One in the front and a strap around the rear. It does share the front skid bolts but will stay up without them.

If you are read to step up to a real gas tank skidplate, check out the ones that I make. Lil' Skip's Offroad | Fabricating parts for the offroad enthusiast

Those are some pretty sexy skid plates..... On a separate note, do you have any idea what size the bolts on the skidplate are?

You can run without the stock skid no problem. I've heard nothing but good things about Gerdo's skids. Not sure about the size, but I'd assume it's a 10, 12, or 14 mm bolt like most things on these trucks.
