Auxiliary Fuel Tank

I'm aware of the F150 fuel tank swap, but I'm curious if anyone has removed (or moved) the spare and put an auxiliary tank in it's place?

I'm looking to replicate the LC100 and LC80 sub tank systems available in Australia models.

I actually have a line on the elusive LC80 factory dual filler neck with the selectable tank rod and I'm thinking the rest of this can be done with parts out of the parts bin (junk yard).

Can you get more?

I could totally use more fuel.

The easiest way is to use the Ford's 150 tank, bolt it in in loo of the spare tire, use the Ford fuel pump to transfer the fuel from the spare tank to the primary tank.

Install an overflow hose from the primary tank to the auxiliary tank to have it catch and recycle any excess fuel.

If you wanted to get fancy, you can mount an Auxiliary fuel gauge in the center console to keep an eye on the fuel tank level.

Seriously, I would like a dual filler neck. I will be willing to help install an Aux tank for you.

Have you got any pictures? This dual filler neck is new to me.

I'll see what I can do...I've been searching for one of these for months (I actually still want one from a AUS UZJ100 so I can do this to my wife's LX470, but I've yet to find one...).

I'm all about easy, but putting Ford parts on my Toyota seems like a sacrilege. I'd love to find a factory Toyota tank to put there from a Corolla or Camry (or some other Toyota you can find in every U-Pull-It yard in the US).

They make some really good tanks and kits, however, based on my research their dual filler neck apparently has some issues when it comes to the CEL for loose gas cap on the newer trucks (which is not a problem for pre-96 stuff). The Toyota dual filler neck does not have that problem on the newer vehicles and is why you really need it on any 96+ and up ride.

Well I scored the LC dual filler neck, should have it this week some time. Pics will follow once it arrives.

Time to figure out what tank to use as the auxiliary...

I like this idea. I removed my spare from the underside long ago and I was thinking about what I would put in that space. Extra fuel would be a great choice. Keep us posted, I'd like to see the end results.

You can always buy a fuel cell that will fit in the stock spare location. There are a wide range of sizes, and the pre-fab units are pretty cheap....just make sure you get one with an internal baffle. A lot of the cheapo Jegs/Summit units lack tat important feature

I remember when I was younger and would show up to school with new shoes, all the other kids would be like "Woah new shoes" Then they'd stomp on them and just beat you to a bloody pulp.
