New Ride: 1999 Black Highlander 5spd E-Locked
Ladies and Gentlemen!
After 4 solid months of searching I bought a 1999 Highlander 5 speed with the diff lock last night for $6700. The truck has 120K on the clock and one original owner. The thing's a little ugly with the brush guard, tube steps and the fact that PO tried to do his own touch up with regular black spray paint, but mechanically solid.
I'm freakin' stoked.
Also, if anybody has a good touch up method that would get things to be 90% without going to a body shop for something that I'm just going to scratch wheeling anyway, I'm all ears.
Sorry for the poor pictures, I took them on my way out the door to work this morning.

Very nice! Awesome rig to build on.
Without being able to see in person what the touch ups are like can't be sure what to do. But you might consider using some Meguiar's Ultimate Compound on a power buffer to see if it improves it any.

Looks good! A few more mods and you can go wheelin with all the other SD members.
That is some pad up on the hill there.
I am wondering where the PO decided to touch up the paint with some spray paint.

That's great news man, I was bummed when you said it was sold! I knew there was a good chance it would have the e-locker too haha. Besides the gray interior, it's pretty much the same as my 4runner

Yeah, it's a hilly part of San Diego and we're kind of down in this mini valley.
They basically did the whole lift gate because it was starting to oxidize and a ding on the front left quarter panel by the headlight. If you look closely you can see that the sheen doesn't match quite right. I'm thinking one of those touch up kits with a clear coat might work, but I'm not too sure about blending it.

You were right on with the magic button. The PO was even asking me why everybody was so interested in it!

Nice find! And I can't believe the price!
Up here someone would probably be attempting to fetch double that.

That's a nice buy! If this were a limited it would have been the holy grail of 3rd gens! You found a very good one though!

Ha Ha. I almost posted last night that you let the Holy Grail get away, but decided not to pile it on. Awesome!

I'm glad you didn't! I surprised myself how bummed I was, then to get the call that I had a second chance... It was a weird down and up.

Really? I never liked the body cladding on the limited models. And of course, we don't need heated seats here.
