ABS saved my a$$

Took the 4runner fishing (I usually take the Taco), anyway, I was heading down an unfamiliar snowpacked road when it took an unannounced (no signs) sharp right. I slammed on the brakes and didn't slide at all. I know for a fact if I would have taken the truck I would have went over the edge because the brakes would have locked up. Just wanted to share my experience because now I have seen first hand the benefits of ABS.

someone must of slid and hit the sign. you might want to report that so others could avoid it also.

2 nights ago me and my fiance were getting on an onramp to get on the freeway, it was raining and very slick out. About 1/2 way through the turn the rear end kicked out and we pitched the 4Runner sideways, then the TCS and VSC kicked in, clicking and beeping. My fiance screamed and i had a huge grin on my face, im glad it did its job and saved me from spinning and letting my truck taste the concret wall. For the record, the truck straightened out perfectly and we kept going on our way.

Wow, that would have made my heart skip a few beats! However, I am not familiar with TCS and VSC as I have older model 4runners. I assume it's an auto-correcting type mechanism.

At least you didn't hit no other cars though. But what does RCS and VSC means and what does it do? Not really familiar with those terms yet.

it basically cuts the throttle, and selectively brakes whatever wheel it needs to correct the path of your truck to where the front wheels are pointing. and yes, it has saved me on snow and ice.
