used a wiring harness that i got from ebay for toyota's so i didn't have to splice any factory wiring.

Most of the new double dins aren't constant ground detection, all you need is a momentary ground switch. BUTTTT I can't say for sure on that deck, most either need a ground constant to simulate parking brake switch continuity or I had a double din before that needed only a momentary ground.

minuscule update

bought a pair of rear flares/mud flaps to practice on, so i don't mess up my originals on the car already.

i found that scissors starting both sides works best for the curved part, then a utility knife. then i tried to sand any rough edges.

Roof Racks

bought some roof racks from this site to fill the void my car was missing. the owner i bought it from removed the racks...

my ultimate goal is to fab up some mounts for a safari rack (a Rola Roof Rack) for a low profile look that hugs the roof close, line-x the entire thing and keep the rails that touch the runner's top... so 6 cross rails should look sick over the standard 3, but evenly spaced across the roof... not like the picture

.some advice when taking of the roof rail caps... super hard to get back on. to make it super easy i recommend taking the whole roof off, or simply loosening the entire rail to lift it up a bit to fit the cap back on the end...

No problem bud, it turned out pretty damn sweet. Those ARB instructions sucked soo bad. Whomever wrote out the instructions needs to be fired or punched in the face for doing a shit job, otherwise it was a good day.

Duuuuuude!!! That time lapse vid was legit!!
1. Awesome that you kept the part where I kick over the camera, then have the lense right in my face going "oops" lol
2. That was hilarious seeing the process and thinking back, "**** the instruction person".
3. Anyone installing an ARB bumper is better served figuring that shot out themselves and burning the instructions. They are completely useless, confusing and illegible to anyone with a brain. The author of the instructions would do well to shoot themselves in the face.
That's all for now, glad you like it. Makes your rig look beast mode for sure!!

Tinted Front Side Windows

bought an extra set of driver and passenger glass from a junk yard as the previous owner of the vehicle scratched the windows badly with something abrasive. made a time lapse video of the process of removing and installing a glass window to the drivers side. i tinted the glass before installation.

basic tools needed:

10mm socket
phillips screw driver

TIP TO REMOVING GLASS/REPLACING GLASS:

put the window at an angle, dipping the glass forward in the door, and lifting it out at a 90 degree angle upwards.

I still think your windows look way darker than my factory tint. We should probably just trade windows for a while to make sure.... Yes?

Installed antenna adapters and bluetooth mic

so while i was installing my pioneer avh-x4600bt i forgot to connect my bluetooth microphone for hands free dialing, so while waiting for work i ripped apart my dash in the parking lot and connected my BT wire and my antenna adapters.

i picked up an adapter from amazon.com for an adapter that ties our 2 antenna's into 1 single connection so it can go directly into the back of the pioneer stereo head unit.

(1) adapter from the rear one which is smaller... and (1) adapter to tie the two antenna connections into one...

for those of you wanting to keep your factory harness intact and away from splicing......pick up the wire adapter harness designed to plug in directly into toyota stereo's from 1987 - current year to prevent you from cutting up your nice OEM harness

AMAZON gives you nice option to buy all 3 at once...however here they are separately

Metra 70-1761 Radio Wiring Harness For Toyota 87-Up Power 4 Speaker

Metra 40-UV43 Male to Female Motorola Antenna Cable

Scosche Mda-B Micro/Delco Antenna Adapter Tip

>>>...

picture shows mounting/clipping location of my microphone for the handsfree bluetooth. reception and quality of sound are perfect and mic is not blocked...
didn't want a permanent mounting location... the mounting clip that it came with worked perfect to attach to where the steering wheel comes out of.

was leaving work the other night and got pulled over.

my passengers side headlamp went out, must have went out literally in front of a cop because it was fine when i left work. guess I'm just lucky like that.

anyways got a generic bulb from O'Reily Auto parts.

does anyone have any opinions on this bulb brand?

what is the OEM brand of bulb for our headlights?
