In this cooler weather as of late, it might not be your fault (heavy handed, too close). Anything around 50 degrees or less is often problematic with many primers and paints. I'm been more successful warming it up first in direct sunlight, if any, then after painting, hitting it with a heat gun. Also, lighter coverage coats tend to come out better than fewer heavier ones in these cooler temps...
