those are the sound bytes.

Right now, my money is on fuel injectors (used a stethoscope, so I am pretty sure), but I might be wrong. I'll let you know when I clean/replace them with bigger ones.

Sounds like a stuck lifter. Add a quart of Marvolus Mystery oil or transmission oil and after 500 miles change the oil.

The 3.4 V6 doesn't have hydraulic lifters.

It has a shim-on-bucket design.

It's difficult to tell from the recordings, but it could be excess valve lash, injectors, or even the solenoids on the charcoal canister.

NOW you did it! A zillion 4R owners are going to be looking to find out how to adjust valve lash.

If anyone feels up to checking/ adjusting the valve lash, then get a factory service manual for your vehicle, and go from there.

If it's something that you're not comfortable doing, find a qualified mechanic to do it.

But again, it's difficult to tell anything from those recordings. It could very well just be normal ticking of the injectors, or solenoids for the charcoal canister.
