Full-length skid plates on a '99 SR5

Just got a '99 SR5 here. It's reason for existing is to get me to all kinds of cool places in the backcountry here in Southern AZ and surrounding areas. Usually, this involves long weekend road trips with 3 or 4 of us, carrying a load of food, camping gear, climbing gear, and/or the mountain bikes.

My question has to do with the stock skid plates. Is there a serious advantage to replacing them with a full-length one? Can anyone point me toward any that they'd recommend?

Thanks!

Those are some nice skid plates -- but it'd be a ***** to do some simple maintenance after installing.

Check out www.bentup.com

If you want real world test parts, that are tested on the Rubicon, go with his parts. Everything from simple bolt on sliders, to full solid axle conversions, custom made bumper that will blow ARB and Jaos out of the water. Bullet proof parts for real off roading trucks. But if your looking for just show and go things, you can go with cheaper parts.

It's true. Some people cut a hole in the skid to make oil changes easier.

What I'd really like to find is a skid plate for the center bit that's currently uncovered, where the center differential is. I don't remember seeing anything like that on any of those sites.

If you call him, ask for AJ. He is a friend of mine and he can make anything, his site is not fully finished, but he can quote you on what you need done. But then again, the shipping to MA is going to be a killer.
