Shops in the Bay Area

Looking to install a lift kit on my 99 4Runner. Looking for a decent shop in the SF/Bay Area to do the work, since I'm not comfortable doing all the labor myself.

Any suggestions???

Do it yourself, and save $1k. The money you'll pay having this installed would be more than enough to buy all the tools you need to install the lift. You have a great amount of resources at your disposal on this forum.

Shaffers Offroad in Alameda. This is one of the desert race teams I race with.

Askl for Mike and tell him Ian Twitchell sent you. They focus more on fabrication of crawlers but if they arent crazy busy, im sure they would do it for ya.

We might be having a meet up/mod day next month if you want help with the install. It's really not bad at all and will save you a few hundred.

What kind of lift?

I really want to get the Toytech Ultimate Lift Kit. Which is why I don't want to spend any additional money on the installation.

Unfortunately, I don't really know enough to do it on my own.

If you come to our meet, we should be able to get it done fairly easy. The ULK is pretty straight forward, so that could be done that day. Here is the thread we have going. NorCal/Bay Area Mod Day and Meet Up

Brian at Toy Auto Clinic in Redwood City. He only works on Toyotas, rates are very reasonable, though does not specialize in 4x4's. Let him know what you want first.

That being said, I also recommend DIYing at the meet up. If you go this route, jump on that thread SCRunner12 linked to and do some research ahead of time. It's really not that difficult.

Don't be scared, it's not that difficult. Unbolt old parts, install new parts. The kits come with instructions and it really is pretty easy. Look for the meet up and save $. Plus it will help you understand your rig more and if you ever break something you might just know how to fix it.

Ya. If I can do it with some veterans at the meet up that would be ideal!

Bring a case of beer or two and go that route. Wrenching parties are usually a good time, great way to meet some new friends and to get to know your truck better.
